It was the only place I could go to and there were my childhood memories. Years later I told my grandmother who lived in CT that I felt her home was my childhood home. My life felt out of control and I longed for a stable place. After we left MS when I was 13 I felt I didn’t have a home anymore. I would have given anything to return back to my home. As I said I moved a lot as a kid and I can understand how he wants to go back home. When he is angry he explodes and yells how he wants to go live with his father. He’s been acting up in school and in bad moods. My grandmother painted this picture of her home for me.ĭawn babysits her brother Jeff one night and he finally explodes. She does well and also gets a little friendly with Shannon. Kristy learns from Stacey’s notebook entry and babysits them. I was a pretty strict sitter so I don’t think I would have put up with it for too long even if it was my first sitting job. Thankfully I never had babysitting jobs like that. Kristy’s sitting job with Amanda & Max sounded pretty rough. Prank calls are likely becoming a thing of the past. I think the prank Kristy pulled was a great idea! But, I wouldn’t recommend it because back then caller ID wasn’t popular like it is today. The poor kids were terrified and I know Kristy was too. Why call Shannon when they can call one number and get 5 sitters? I’d be jealous too! But, it was very wrong for Shannon to prank call that there was a fire. She sees the club is a great idea and that parents will like it. She was the main babysitter in the area and then once Kristy moves in she sees flyers advertising the club. Since I hadn’t read this book in a long time I had forgotten a good bit of stuff that happened in it but it was clear to me early on that Shannon felt jealous of Kristy. Yes, what Shannon does is wrong but my mother’s heart can’t help but feel some sympathy for her too. My biggest issues were girls who were kind to me in church youth groups but at school they bullied me.Īs a kid when I read this I thought Shannon was horrible! She prank calls Kristy telling her there is a fire and does other mean things, but reading this as an adult I felt sorry for Shannon. Sure I met girls in jr high and high school who acted snobby but nothing like the girls in this book.

Thinking about my past 40+ years I really can’t think of a time when like Kristy that I had to deal with snobs. It is not the nicest meeting since Shannon & Amanda make fun of Louie. While Kristy is walking Louie after his trip to the vet she meets another girl walking her dog. Louie is taken to the vet and given some medicine to help him stay comfortable.

He is slowing down, his eyesight getting poor and he is hurting. Sadly we see early on that Kristy’s dog Louie is getting old. She makes it clear that she is surrounded by snobs and Kristy can not stand snobs. The book opens with Kristy meeting some of her new neighbors. This is one of the Babysitter Club books that has always stuck with me over the years. Who is on the cover? Kristy, Louie, Shannon & Amanda This book takes place in September The above is my original book as it is today.
